Could anyone help a newbie to this kind of stuff?

I want to put a Movie I just downloaded on a CD that goes into my DvD player that is hooked up to my TV and plays that movie with sound and pretty good quality film. I'm am Very new to this kind of stuff and I was wondering if you or anyone else that reads this could give me step by step directions on how to make a movie that works in my dvd player. I have Maxell CD-R's many 700MB (80 mins) . I have a DvD Hardware and a CD-Writer Plus Hardware in my computer you know, where you put the disks in. Take a look to the left under "Convert." I'm going to assume that the movie you d/loaded is a DivX encode file, there's guides to the left.
