  1. All my other 23.976 fps AVIs play back in proper NTSC mode on my DivX DVD player, but one AVI plays back in 25fps PAL mode.

I have checked the AVI on the PC and it is definitely 23.976 fps. I thought maybe the AVI header was corrupt so I used Nandub to rewrite the header but the same thing still happens.

Any suggestions why the player switches to the wrong mode on this file when all others playback in the correct mode (23.976/29.97 fps =NTSC, 25 fps = PAL)?

Without know where you are and what your player is, it's hard to give you specific answers. I will assume, if your player is outputting PAL frame rates (25 fps) that you are in a PAL country. The first thing you need to do is confirm that your TV can accept and process NTSC input. If it can, read the manual for your Divx DVD Player and find out if and how you change the output settings from PAL to Auto, so that the play outputs a native signal based on the source file. Note : some players can read both NTSC and PAL source material, but will always convert the output to their native locale, be-it PAL or NTSC land.

If you tell us what your play is, someone else with on might be able to help with a detailed process to change it - I know my LG Divx capable player does not just have a nice menu item to change - you have to turn it off, then hold a specific key combination on the remote as it starts up.

  3. I can force the player to output NTSC.

I'm just confused as to why this particular AVI is output inthe wrong format, when AUTO mode works perfectly with all other AVIs.

How are you testing the 25 fps output ?
