  1. I am using TMPG to convert avi to SVCD. I am using aspect ratio of 4:3 Display and source aspect ratio of 4:3 525 NTSC. I am using the SVCD NTSC template and have tried several different video arrange methods...Full screen, full screen keep aspect, center, center keep aspect, no margins keep aspect, etc. I have even tried center custom size. I just can't seem to get movies to fit my TV screen correctly... and because I am using 2 pass VBR, it is a long time to re-encode the movie and try again. Can anyone Help? I have read how to's and they suggest full screen keep aspect ratio...but when burnt and played on my tv with a pioneer dv-444 it doesn't take the whole screen. When I use center custom size, I am not sure what size to use...when it looks good in tmpg it cuts off words on the sides when played on the tv. Please help!

  2. Hi,

This problem is applicable on all TVs. Most TVs do not display the edges of a frame. In TMPGEnc you can overcome this problem by selecting:

    center custom size

Choose a custom size that is smaller then your MPEG2 bitmap, by decreasing the horizontal and vertical sizes with the following format depending values:

    Top & bottom edges - 24 PAL 18 NTSC
    Left & right edges - 30 PAL 27 NTSC

    Example:
PAL SVCD format 480x576 => use custom display size 420x528
NTSC SVCD format 480x480 => use custom display size 426x444

    I found this information here:

    Good luck
