i have two trial versions of dvd fabdecrytper on my computer 3030 and platinum, i recently purchased kaspersky antivirus 6.0 and found a backdoor trojan backdoor.win32.dsnx.05.a in the dvd fabdecrytper exe file, i found just a little on the internet about this and was wondering is this just a false on the antivirus or is this a true trojan

    thanks

dvdfabdecrypter is free software ... there are no trial versions .... did you download it from the official site?

Or maybe you are refering to dvdfab (not dvdfabdecrypter) which is a different app from the same makers

Im sorry i have DvdFab Decrytper and dvd Fab but the trojan came from DvdFab decrypter 3030, as far as where i got it i dont know i would say i got it from there site but i would not be 100% on that. Has anyone else had this problem i had been using AVG antivirus and did not find anything.

  4. may just be a "false positive" kaspersky is know to be a mite "touchy" sometimes.
I would verify that you got the app in question from a reliable, safe source.

I've got AVG and today the scan found a trojan in DVDFabDecrypter (Backdoor.Generic4.IJM). The prog has been installed for months and barely used, if ever. I'm just going to uninstall it and clean up. This thread is not the only one where this problem has been reported.

Use ripit4me instead, it's a better ripping tool anyways.

Just make sure avg can handle it , and beware , these bugger's can return because they can embed themselve's inside the restore point's as well ... and this would need to be disabled to make sure they get out ... only do this if the system keep's getting the same infection ... it mean's avg wasnt able to pickup all the backups hiding in the restore point's .

Hijackthis is handy ... scan system , check for running task's in back ground ... look for suspicious characters lurking about ... disable them , reboot , and rescan .

The program also include's a feature that can remove the item upon reboot of the pc ... but check out all temp dirrectories , and thoroughly check you window's dirrectory for those that may carry a similar name ... backup's .

You would need to go into windows explorer , tools , folder options , view tab , uncheck "hidden folder's and files" , and the two item's below it , answer yes , hit apply , then ok , then hit F5 to refresh ... you will beable to see hiiden folder's under your normal account .

Empty all from temp , and temporary internet folder ... hold down the shift key bypass's the recycle bin ... there out of here .

Then visit programs folder ... sniff out any suspicious folder's ... some lame trojan's actual have there own folder ... idiot's .

Then windows dirrectory ... look for suspicious looking bugger's in here ... esspecially in installer , downloaded program files , system32 ... look for those with similar name as that of infected file ... there alway's a backup of the problem hiding .

Once done , restart the pc and rescan , it should be clear ... if not , post the log on the hijackthis forum and ask for advice , or even before doing that , a google search may turn up a forum link on how too remove it ... normally dose .

If avg dose nab it ... make sure you empty the vault ... even if they are here , they can cause issue's with accessing net service's ... their a right pain .

And yes , there are a number of site's offering dvdfab decrypter , and much more , as a download , but they are mostly infected ... only grab those listed from official site's to be sure ... this dosent mean they are alway's going to be cleared of issue's ... it dose happen once in a while ... but it is an extremely rare occurance .

The current version from dvd idle's site is version 3055. I would suggest going directly to their site and getting the latest.

I just ran the file past jotti's online scan and it came back clean with the note that the file had been scanned before, so apparently others are nervous, too.

  9. I have AVG Anti-Virus Plus Firewall and when I downloaded DVDFab Decrypter a few versions back from the official website,AVG picked up on a that Trojan during installing.I set AVG to ignore it because a lot of people use it and I thought it was safe.Well nothing has happened to my OS and with the newer versions,AVG dont pick up on any Trojans.Maybe AVG fixed this false positive or dvdidle did it.

I suspect we are seeing false positives. I've had the thing installed for months and today I get a positive?

I could be wrong, but for me the simplest solution is get rid of the software! I don't need to be wasting my time hunting down "problems". So, I'm just removing all DVDFab stuff, cleaning up and moving on.
