im trying to play some avi files on a dvd i burnt recently. But it won't play smoothly, experiencing lag. im sure its not my computer's specs. could it be due to the crappy quality of the disk? or my laptop's dvdrom itself?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
p.s. i know i could just copy on to HD and then play it but i have so much stuff to watch, i don't wanna do that for everything.

It could be either, you will need to do a little troubleshooting to figure it out. Some drives prefer different brands/types of media. So trying a different name brand media would help rule out the media. Verbatim and TY are the better brands at the moment, but basically just stay away from generic/store brands, at least while troubleshooting. You may also want to ensure your pc is set to use DMA mode, although if that was the issue, you would have also had burning trouble.
