  1. hi everyone.

i have a program called boilsoft dvd ripper 2.04 (yeah i havent updated to 2.68 current version yet) and i do a lot of ripping of dvd to dvd mpeg2 format and never have any issues, this is the best dvd ripping software ive ever used and tried most of the others and come back to this one all the time.

now, i and a friend of mine both have issues ripping to AVI format, whether to mpeg4 or xvid.

we can both rip to either AVI formats in various video and audio bitrates etc but when i playback

my avi the audio plays normal but the video freezes or gets choppy, then catches up to the audio then freezes.

my friend has an opposite problem, his audio plays normal but his video plays in fast mode so its way ahead of the audio.

both playback in min media player.

anyone know why this might be happening. neither of us have any probs with ripping to dvd mpeg2 format.

could this be an issue that plagued this version that has now been fixed in newer versions.

    cheers everyone.

I don't use that program, but you might drop a finished file into VirtualDub Mod and run through it frame by frame to see if there is a obvious problem.

If you are converting to Xvid, then you are using the Xvid codec somewhere. The same with Divx. Do you have other codecs installed that might be interfering with them? Codec packs in particular can cause problems.

Further afield could be hard drive or OS problems. Defragged lately? Make sure other background programs aren't running at the same time?

Finally, are you playing these from disc? Maybe a media problem in that case.

    Those are just guesses, though.

  3. i run k-lite mega codec pack 1.63 and ive always used k-like and never ever had any codec issues, and im a professional video editor and dvd processor and still cant work it out.

always defrag both hdd as i have to with video editing, and its def not operating system, and nothing else running on the pc while playing the vids.

playing the vids from hdd, not disc, same with my friend.

just strange how we oth can rip to both avi formats but my video locks up and his runs faster, but audio on both of our vids is ok.

cheers and thanks for you suggestions.
