I plan on getting this card with my new PC build, however the OTA towers are to far from me to go with anything smaller than a 'large roof antenna' (30+ miles with CBS at 60.1 miles), so it looks like I will have to hook up a Cable Box (either the SA8000HD or SA8300HD) to the card. Cable CO is Brighthouse/Tampa FL.
I'd like to capture the TS files to my PC, and have read that the Firewire ports on these boxes don't work right (CapVHS crashes, etc). I will have a HDCP Video Card and Monitor, so is there any other way to get the non-encrypted (any?) HDTV TS files to my PC with this setup, or is it pretty much useless?

Cable companies are required to carry unencrypted the digital channels that can be received OTA in your area. So with a tunner card capable of QAM decoding and digital cable subscription you will be able to decode those channels on your PC.

I took the cable that feeds my TW box and split it, feeding both PC and 8300HD. In the cable QAM mode on the Fusion drivers, I am able to recieve all the local HD channels (from the 4 major networks) plus the analog channels 2-79 SD content.
Using the Fusion software I can record all of the selections.
I hope this helps?
