Hi, I have been using Nero Recode to convert files to mp4s so that I can play them on my iPod. The past few days however the audio is faster than the video by say 5 sec. There seems to be no problem when I use Videora, however Videora ipod converter is not as fast as Nero Recode and so does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks

What format are you converting them from? Sync problems can be caused by the audio format, at times VBR audio. You can probably check the original file with Gspot 2.60. If you can find one that encodes without problems and one that doesn't, you should be able to figure out the difference and there may be an adjustment you can make.

    And welcome to our forums.

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

I am converting from AVI and when I opened it up with Gspot there seemed to be no problems. Do you thing changing the audio's bitrate will help?

Probably not audio bitrate. Sorry, I'm just guessing as I don't use Recode. If you see nothing different between the videos that work and the ones that don't, then it comes back to Nero.

Maybe something changed with the program. About all I can suggest is that a program that may have been added is doing something with Nero. The other thought is to uninstall Nero and reinstall it. I would use the Nero Clean Tool for that as it seems to be able to remove Nero remnants better.

If you knew exactly when the problem started, you might be able to pin it down better. You might try a Windows restore to a time before the problem. But back up important files before you try this.

And visit the Nero site, if you haven't, to see if this is a problem others have ran into.

Or one of our members that use Recode may have some better ideas.

Is this an avi using the divx codec? Was this converted with a VBR for the audio? If so, as already suggested try converting audio to a constant bit rate and not variable (for both original program and recode). I've use recode many times (admittedly not with portable settings) and never had a synch problem - unlike other programs!

I am gonna try reinstalling Nero. Hopefully that works.

Also the out of sync issue seems to only happen when I encode 20-30 min shows because when I encode say 1 1/2 hour movies there are no problems, everything is in sync.

    Hi,
The only time I've ever had sync problems with Nero is when I've used the video trimmer to set the beginning and end points on the file to be encoded. Now I trim/edit with other apps before going to Nero and haven't had any further Sync issues.
