I have been burning decrypting, shrinking and burning DVD's for a while, but recently purchased an IPAQ1950 with WM5 and am trying to find a free, user friendly app to convert .vob to .wmv or .avi .
My daughter has a Sansa MP3 player that has video capability. It came with a media converter disk, but it converts to .mov. I have successfully converted and downloaded a dvd to her MP3 player, but not for my IPAQ and I cant find a free .mov player to download.

    My questions are:
    1. can anyone point me to a free .vob to .wmv converter, or
    2. point me to a free .mov player for a PPC.

I know there are converters and players out there that will solve my problem in a snap...but I want to do free if possible.

    Thanks!

    Go Jags!

the apple quick time player is free and the download is here.

it plays the sansa .mov videos just fine even if there are in a bit of a weird format.

windows movie maker should convert vob to wmv for free.

Is the quicktime player for WM5 machines or for XP machines? I need something I can load onto my PPC.

CorePlayer supports a bunch of different codecs and file types on Pocket PCs.

    http://coreplayer.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21&Itemid=36

Using that specific player on the IPAQ opens up the kind of converters and encoders you can use - You can employ about any free encoder out there - just save to 320x240 resolution and h264 or Divx/Xvid.

    http://vemode.corecodec.org/ is a decent converter.

While CorePlayer isn't free($20), it'll simplify things considerably

Check out their forum for conversion advice/apps.
