My capture device (Dazzle DVC 100) automatically splits output files at 4 GB so many movies are split towards the end. I use TMPGENC DVD Author to author the files and select both clips. but when watching the DVD there is like a 2 or 3 second pause as it switches to clip #2. i use to WINAVI, before i realized it sucked. however, it did have a very nice option to combine two clips into the same title when authoring which took out that pause.
so, what's the best way to author two clips to make a seamless movie file on the dvd?

I use Tmpgenc DVD Author and am always splicing clips and they play without pauses.
Anytime I insert a clip I always set the in-point/out-point in the Chapter Cut Edit tab. Besides that I don't do anything special besides set other chapter points and delete any unused auto marked chapters while i'm in there. They play seamlessly but like I said, my clips are in the same track. I only create another track when adding more titles.
Good luck. -
my two clips are in one track also, and the both start and stop when they need too so setting the in and out time isn't needed.
mine just has about a 2 second delay when it hits the end of clip one to search for clip two, so why is yours flow seamlessly into clip two and mine doesn't any idea? -
Alright try a simple test. Make an RW with 4 clips on it. The first track with 2 clips that are, like you said above, that start and end at the proper points so they don't need an in-point/out-point set. Then put 2 more clips in the second track where each you manually set the in-out points for each clip, then see what happens. This might show something.
My thinking is that the player is having trouble seaking the beginning of the clips for whatever reason, I don't know.
My usual sequence is either authorizing 1 big captured movie and cutting out the commercials and the junk in TDA. You can imagine just how many commericals and cuts I normally do for a 2 hour movie. Its all in one track and my chapter points are always at these cuts and each always has the in-out points set.
OR
I am authorizing actual clips into the same track. Like capturing a movie until the commercial starts then stop the capture then starting it again at the end of the commercial break which always creats a new clip. Or my wife leaves so much raw tape between her camcorder sessions that my transfering program thinks its at the end of the tape and stops the capture. Her home movies usually wind up in several short clips (each time she pressed the stop button on the camera). I almost always encode and work these in individual clip form then author them to the same track in TDA by combining the clips. I always seem to be setting in-out points anyway....
Try the test. ok
Good luck.
