  1. Hi All,

I have a really dump question. Is it possible to capture a higher resolution than 720X480 from a DV source? If so, which software will do this?

Also how is HD video captured from Camcorders, and what software/resolution is used for it?

    Thanks.

  2. Standard DV is fixed resolution - 720 x 480 (NTSC) and 720 x 576 (PAL)

Higher-definition versions of DV exist (DVCProHD, for example) - but the equipment is expensive.

HDV camcorders (not HD) record using an MPEG2 format, like DVD.

Can capture 1080i or 1080p in Mpeg2 format?

    Thanks.

  4. That will depend on the HDV device - whether or not those modes are supported.

Is 1080p available on any camcorder?
