  1. How do you create a dvd slideshow without converting the images to video? I'm not looking for transitions or anything. Would just like to keep the pictures in high resolution, if possible. At least I thought dvd was capable of this? Could be wrong.

Strange, I was just searching for a program that does that, it is time consuming.

There are slideshow programs that also include the original photos on the disc....but they are only for archival purposes and not used in the actual slideshow.

Most DVD players will play jpg's of any resolution burned to data discs, options and abilities vary by player. Otherwise you need to convert them, try Pro Show gold . Having said that for viewing on a SD TV keeping the resolution high has no benefit, for that matter just about any display including very high end monitors do not have anywhere near the resolution required to display still images at there full resolution. To put it into perspective here's a representation:

Its not about TV resolution .....Here's what happens

I make a slideshow on a DVD and give it to my kids.
They see a picture that they like and so they want to print it.
I tell them, don't print it, resolution is too low for a good print.

And now the fun begins .... explain that to non-techies

If you want a printable image there is no way to do it with a compliant DVD that I'm aware of .

You could make up a HTML slideshow, most image editing applications have add-ons that will auto generate one for you. MS even has one as part of their Windows Power toys suite... That will only play from a computer though.

These will be viewed on a hdtv but just a standard dvd player. I'll look into see what my dvd manual says. I just though there might of been a program to do this while keeping them in high resolution. Which mine are 1600x1200. I may just have to store them on there as well.
