Is there away for me to check to see if my audio is out of sync before I burn

You didn't ask how. And you didn't provide any information about the files you are planning to burn. So let me take a stab in the dark...

Yes I know that but they are family movies made from christmas and I need to check to see if Audio is in sync to burn on dvds

My experience has shown that some players do not show sync problems as well as others. Windows Media Player has lied to me on many occasions. I do not trust it.
VirtualDub, VirtualDubMPEG, VirtualDubMOD and Media Player Classic are all trustworthy. If your file plays in sync in any of these programs then it will play in sync on the disk. lol

That still tells me nothing about the files you want to burn. What were they recorded on? How did they get to the computer? What format are they in? Did you encode them to DVD spec mpeg2? Did you author them into a DVD structure?
