I bought one of these DVD players on Thanksgiving and it says it can play DivX. I was wondering if soft subs work on this player?
Edit:
While on the subject, how will DivX/DVD players like these treat overscan? Usually when I convert a video with hardsubs to DVD MPEG-2, I'd have to resize the video in a way so that the subs stay on the screen.

They work the same, just put the subs on the same disk as your avi & push the subtitle button to display. Should be covered iin the instruction book.

SRT subtitles generally are best, although a few other formats are supported. Your name looks Japanese and if you are expecting to be able to watch Divx with Japanese subtitles, you may have a problem. Some Philips models don't support external subtitles in anything except Latin and Cyrillic character sets. You'll have to check on your model.
My limited experience is that all Philips DVD players overscan. However, Divx subtitles will be visible unless your subtitle format allows you to specify screen locations, in which case it's up to you to be sure that they are correct. -
That's so cool for it to actually work!
I didn't want to open my package in case it doesn't work and I'd rather just refund it. But now I know. Thanks!
