Just got the Philips DVP5960. I am having trouble playing avi files on a DVD+R.
I burned an avi file onto a DVD+R and named it "APNM1".
When I put the disc into the player the menu displays 35 files named "APNM1"
The movie starts to play fine but after about 10 minutes it stops. It seems as if the dvd player is breaking down the movie into chapters but is only playing the first chapter then stopping.
Am I doing something wrong? Anybody know how to fix this??
(I am using Roxio Drag to Disc to burn the avi file onto the DVD+R.)
Thanks to anyone who can help.

You can't use packet-writing software such as Roxio's Drag-to-Disc or Nero's InCD to burn your discs. They must be burned as a "data disc". Look around for that option in your Roxio. It's been several years since I used Roxio but it used to be there. I use Nero Express for burning data discs these days and it works very well.
And be sure to give your file a name like "APNM1.avi". I don't know if it would work without the extension.
