    i have a 1.23GB SVCD mpg file and i was wanting to fit this on one CDR, Is there anyway to compress it to fit on one CD ?

    i used WinAVI Video Converter, the SVCD was a 701MB Xvid at one time

    SVCD allows for around 42 minutes on a standard CD (650 MB). A good SVCD encoding program (and WinAVI is not a good program, period) would break the SVCD down into as many discs as were required - in your case, 3 discs. If you lower the bitrate then you can get 60 minutes on a disc, but you are down around VCD bitrates, and mpeg2 isn't as kind as mpeg 1 at those rates. That, and the higher resolution, would mean sub-VCD image quality.

    Seriously, SVCD is like VCD and the Dodo. Why would you want to encode for SVCD ? It's not universally supported, it is sub-DVD in quality, and you can watch a movie without getting off the couch at least once.

    When SVCD is your only choice, it has to do, and ive burned whole movies to one CDR alot of times really everytime, this is the only movie i cant burn like i always do

    Video has a universal rule : size = running time x bitrate. If you want more running time, encode at a lower bitrate. WinAVI is not the tool to be using to do this though.
