Someone sent me a disc they did in a JVC combo (not the current model, the last one) and the ISO disc title is LG_COMBI_RECORDER as opposed to JVC_DVD_ROM, so are they the same units now?

    Thanks!

Methinks I've seen the same thing. Both use the same encoding chip so anything's possible. Pity the LG machines don't have FR record though.....

That refers to the DVD burner inside the unit. It's an LG burner in a JVC recorder. It's not necessarily referring to anything else.

  4. It's an LG_COMBI_RECORDER with a JVC label on it. The recorder is manufactured by LG. You can save some money by purchasing the Insignia version. This too is produced by LG and is the cousin to this JVC combo. Same combo recorders.

See, I would think that if it said something other than "LG_COMBI_RECORDER." All of the other discs I've seen from JVC units said "JVC_DVD_ROM," which is why I'm inclined...

    ...to agree with this.

It could be that too. My point was to mention that it could go either way. I've seen that on many, many, many other DVD recorders. The burner name ends up on the discs because it is not overridden by the manufacturer assembling the recorder (and thereby placing their name on the discs).
