I've hacked 3 different standalone DVD player models over the years, but am now limited for space, so am going to go with some sort of TV/DVD/VCR combo, up to about 25". I have a DVD player that I changed to region-free, so if I'm not able to hack a combo, that's cool, but I'd like to give it a whirl.

It's good that you asked first. Usually new members post in distress after learning the hard way that it's not possible to make every DVD or BD player region free. I've NEVER heard of ANY TV/DVD combo that could be made region free. Even back in the days in the USA and Canada when it was easy to find region free players, specialty players of all types (DVD/TV, DVD/VCR, portables, car players, etc.) were almost impossible to make region free.

Bottom line - you buy a combo, you're not making it region free.

Do note that manufacturers design players to be throwaway consumables. I would expect any TV/DVD combo player to get really hot and to have a shortened lifespan for the DVD player. Do not be surprised if in 2-3 years the TV still works fine but the DVD player is unusable.

Thanks mucho. I've had really good luck with every player I've hacked, from a couple of $20 Canadian ones to some Philips & Toshibas, but it doesn't hurt to check around
