  1. I have the whole one series of a programme downloaded in 22 episodes. I want to put them on to a couple of discs but would like to know the quickest and easiest way to do this please. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

Buy a Divx/Xvid capable player. Burn the episodes as data as-is. 12 50 minute (350 MB) episodes to a disc. By far the simplest method.

If you go down the DVD path then you will get only 2 - 4 episodes to a disc, depending on running time and quality, and it will take a while.

ConvertXToDVD? It works well and is very easy to use.

What's the total running time of all the files or at least the average running time of each? That will determine how you can put them on a disc. Use a bitrate calculator and it will tell you the bitrate needed for the discs. If it's too low, you might think about 1/2 D1 format. See 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left for DVD specs. Bitrate calculators available in 'Tools' to the left.

A little more complicated is to encode them with a program like TMPGEnc encoder, then author the MPEGs to DVD. This will give you the best control and quality, but be prepared to do some studying. There are also freeware programs to do all of this. But try ConvertX first.

  4. Thanks for your reply. Each episode is about 30 mins. I have used tmpgenc before but with 22 episodes this could take some time so thats why I was looking for something quicker and also I didnt want it to take loads of discs.

    Thanks

I have put 6 x 30 minute episodes onto a single disc using DivxtoDVD (before ConvertXtoDVD was released) and had to use Shrink to shave a couple of % off the size. The quality is acceptable for what the subject matter is, but would not do justice to anything with action or that come from a HD source.

To maintain quality you are looking at a minimum of 6 discs if you go DVD. Or go to DL discs and get it down to three discs.

...or as previously stated: Get a DivX/XviD capable player, and just burn them as data to a DVD-R (and be done with all AVI to DVD woes once and for all).
