I'm trying to decide whether to use NeroVision or Ulead Video Studio 9.0 to capture my HI8 videos.
When I capture with VS9 using MPEG/DVD as output the resulting file can't barely be played in either their own player, nor Windows Media Player nor Nero ShowTime. When I play it, it display like a 1/10 of the speed it should with audio jittering.
If I use NeroVision, at least Nero Showtime can play the files without problems as well as Windows Media Player, but VS9 plays the video with a black bar at the bottom triming like 20% of the video height.
I'd like to use VS9 to further edit the video files, but it seems I won't be able to do so.
May be I'm not using the most proper format, but picking MPEG-2 seemed intuitive to me.
I want to get the most quality of these tapes. What if I use AVI format instead ? Would I lose quality ?
My computer is plenty of hardware, Pentium Core 2 Duo E6600 with 2Gb of RAM, 200Gb of HD free space. No process running on the background while capturing.
