  1. Has anyone out there know a link for a decent review for the new Toshiba DVD-XA2 HD DVD player? or have heard anything about it?

I have been wanting a HD-DVD player, but only Blu-Ray plays 1080P.....not any longer. Once this is released, I get a feeling this will be the new king of the hill, unless it's garbage.

My current setup, I have a Samsung DVD-HD960 with 1080P upconversion, on a new Sony KDL-40V2500 1080P LCD TV, and the 1080P upconversion is a thing of beauty, even my region 2 disks do extremely well in 1080P mode. I also have an Oppo 971H on a Hitachi Plasma.

I believe, in the shorter term, HD DVD is coming out with the better DVD titles, plus LOTR in the near future. This is the major reason, and funds, why I have not ventured into Blu-Ray Land.

Any thoughts on the Toshiba? HD Vs. Blu Ray?

I see no reason to commit to either one in the short term except for street creds. I'm happy with my normal DVD collection for now. If I let myself get used to 1080p source, the 480p library will start to look like VHS.
