  1. if im at the wrong section of this forum, please tell me and ill post my question in another section. im just so new at this that im not sure about it.

    here is my story :

i recently purchased a new computer with a dvd player and a cd burner. instantly, the "copy any dvd movie" pop-ups and emails cought my eye. i bought one of those packages for $37.95 and had no luck with it. the company was good enough to give me my money back. anyways, i actually ripped the dvd, converted it to mpeg. can someone please tell me how to compress and burn the mpge file onto a cd-r ?

i have heard so many different oppinions on the subject of copying a dvd that i dont even know if it can be done. has anyone had any luck doing this ?

any and all help is greatly appreciated !!!

  3. well, i have followed them pretty closely, but the TMPEng program errors on the cut and merge process. is this process critical ? can i skip the cut and merge with TMPEng and move on to nero and try and burn it ?

another question. it took about 6hrs to convert a 1 1/2 hour dvd into mpeg using flaskmpeg. is this normal ?

does anyone have the seriel # to unlock nero ?

thanks guys. dont shoot me for all the questions. im really new at this and am pretty lost. im just trying to get pointed in the right direction.....

  7. Are you sure that your DVD supports vcd's? Some dvd's only support vcd's on cdrw discs, not cdr's. As for the error messages by TMPGEnc. I'm not sure what to tell you. Does the .avi play fine in Windows Media Player? If so, then the cut option should work fine in TMPGEnc.

This whole thing works, it just takes a while to get use to all the different steps. Once you have done it a few times, it becomes pretty simple. It is however, too complicated to describe in a quick response to your post. Go to the tutorials and follow Sefy's first guide. It really is fairly bullet proof.

The key is not cutting or merging the files with TMPGenc at all. Instead, you set the RANGE that you want TMPGenc to encode to determine the amount of the movie that ends up on each disk. Look at the tutorial and it is covered pretty well.

You might also try Ulead DVD Movie Factory which is a free download. I use this just for burning, but also find that it is relatively straight forward.

If the advice of the good people here doesn't help, either give up, or keep trying and ask more questions.
