    Hey all
I recently purchased a pink panther DVD episode collection. Now I want to rip the 27 episodes individually so I can convert them later on. I tried using DVD Shrink, but it takes to long ripping each one individually, is their a faster way, if there isn't then I'll continue on with it.

Hope this is the right forum. Your input is appreciated.[/code]

    Hi Jorge

I use DVD Decrypter to do this and a DOS batch file. I first run DVD Decrypter (IFO mode)and look at the structure and make a note of which VTS and PGC is associated with each episode. Then I create a batch file. Here is an example of the batch command from a recent DVD Rip I did. In this case I had a DVD in drive F: (ice station zebra) and g: (omen)

    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC F: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\ICESTATIONZEBRA" /VTS 01 /PGC 1 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE
    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC G: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\OMEN" /VTS 01 /PGC 1 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE

yours might look something like this (of course just guessing the DVD structure) ...
    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC D: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\Pink Panther" /VTS 01 /PGC 1 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE
    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC D: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\Pink Panther" /VTS 02 /PGC 1 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE
    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC D: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\Pink Panther" /VTS 03 /PGC 1 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE
    etc...

If the VTS are the same and the episodes are in different PGC, then you will need to save each panther episode to a different folder

    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC D: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\Pink Panther1" /VTS 01 /PGC 1 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE
    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC D: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\Pink Panther2" /VTS 01 /PGC 2 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE
    "c:\program files\dvd decrypter\dvddecrypter.exe" /MODE IFO /SRC D: /DEST "C:\DVD Decrypter\Pink Panther3" /VTS 01 /PGC 3 /SPLIT NONE /DIRECT 0x80 0xE0 /START /CLOSE

The readme of dvd decrypter explains what the switches do...

    hope I've helped

I see, thanks for the post. Now what about quality, its full screen cartoons, I don't think I need allot of kbps quality; whats your recommended number of quality setting for the videos.

I'm not an expert at that part of the process to be honest. DVD Decrypter rips each episode into a separate VOB file and does no format conversion or compression. From these VOBS, your choices are nearly limitless and depend a lot on what you want to do with the episodes.

For example, I have a DLink DSM520 which lets me stream avi from pc to HD TV. I convert my VOBs to avi to save disk space using AutoGK. I've seen 1800 kbps bandied about as a good quality bit rate for movies. For cartoons that might be a little excessive.

Many people will be able to offer their opinions on this.

Thanks for all your help and input, if anyone has any other comments about quality settings for cartoons please let me know, I really would like to know. As for now I'll just keep playing around with the settings I guess.

I have some Justice League avi at 900kb. They look OK. 23 minutes about 170MB.

Right, thats what I use for movies, and the quality is close to best. But the vids are about 6 to 7 minutes each, so I think it would be to excessive for these tiny vids. Well I guess I could keep trying until i get something I like. But if anyone has any suggestions on what settings to use, please feel free to let me know, your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks
