It says in the manual that its only possible to use dvd-r discs which
conform with "DVD-R standard version 2.0" in this machine.
I tried using TY and Maxell disc. Failed.
What all brand and speed of disc do you use successfully in this machine?
Thank you.

You might look to the left in 'DVD Players' and see what others use for media with that unit, assumiing it is listed. I suspect the problem may not be so much the media, but the software used for encoding, authoring or burning the DVD. The record speed doesn't have a lot to do with playability. Most players should work fine with good brands of DVD media. If it won't, it may not be the media. You could try backing up a commercial DVD with DVD Shrink and burning with ImgBurn. If you still have problems, using good media, maybe there is a problem with the player itself.

Looks like its a problem with the unit. Couldnt even record on the disc the unit came with. If anyone with any experience can give me their opinion, please do before I call jvc.
