I have a general use question for anyone that can help me. I have a standalone LG model LRY-517 DVD/VCR recorder.
I have made great use of this device but have not been able to figure out how I can read and/or play DVDs recorded on it on my PC running WindowsXP. Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to read and/or play these on a WindowsXP system?
I have read that a possibility exists from a product called CyberLink Power Producer that it would apparently load something, a dll I assume, that will allow WindowsXP to read DVDs written by my LRY-517. Strange, I installed this product and it worked ONCE and only once.
Whenever the DVD is inserted into the drive on WindowsXP it refuses to read it and makes Windows Explorer see the device/media as a blank CD. Why? What format are these disks written?
I have gone the route of updating the firmware on my DVD drive in the Windows machine, it's a Panasonic. Still no luck.
If anyone can provide insight it would greatly be appreciated.

ok quick question - are these discs finalized??
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
I have pioneer 531h stand alone and the recorded finalized dvd will not play in my aopen 1649aap but does just great in my nec3550a. I know this does not answer your question but it shows not all dvd burners or players are compatible
