  1. Hi, my graphics card (Geforce 7600GS) has video out in the form of S-video, which my TV doesnt support. My onboard graphics has TV out capability via composite. is it possible to use the TV out on my motherboard whilst using my Nvidia for monitor graphics?

any information on how i could do this would be apreciated.

  2. Try one of those inexensive s-video to composite adaptors.

If you have onboard motherboard graphics and you add a AGP or PCI-E graphics card, you usually can't use both. The onboard will need to be disabled. But you may be able to add a PCI graphics card that can probably run at the same time as your main graphics card (AGP or PCI-E) and output composite, if it has that capability. It's not much different than running two monitors at the same time. The better way would be to replace your add-on graphics card with one that had composite output that would work with your present TV, though.

What do you mean by "it doesn't work"? If your graphics card is putting out an s-video signal the adaptor pretty much has to work. The picture may not be the best possible but you should get a picture.

If your graphics card isn't putting out an s-video signal you should install the latest WHQL certified graphics drivers and then enable the TV output. It's generally not enabled by default.

No reason why it wouldn't work. Did you set up the second monitor following the directions in the manual? S-Video becomes monitor #2. Setting a second monitor on a separate display card is far more problematic.

S-video cable connected between new video card must be connected to tv input , prior to pc being turned on , otherwise it's not picked up .

Some video software have "force detection" of tv screen ... though I dont recommend doing this ... do it the right way all the time .

You can use a s-video to rca adapter to send video to tv ... audio via pc speaker output to rca input on tv ... just mean's you going to need a couple of adapter's , and cable to go between device's .

    ----------------

If addon installed ... the onboard is automatically crippled ... some say disabled ... which is not 100% correct .

Onboard video + agp slot + pci1 share resources ... if one is used ... the other's should not used in order to prevent system resource conflict's ... the bios know's this ... and you should be aware of this now .
