Same as vitualis. I don't have the option on any of my drives. I might use it if the media price goes down a little.

It also seems it only uses +R DVD media at present. Lightscribe says when DVD laser power increases it will burn the discs faster, which would be good. I think it is an interesting option for disc labeling.

I don't have the option on my drives as well. The BENQ 1655 is getting raves from members at the BENQ FORUM. I don't have the patience to wait 30 minutes for the lightscribe to be done. Maybe when the discs become cheaper and the process is shorter only then I would consider getting one.

I don't have lightscribe on any of my drives at home. One of my work drives has it. I used it once but found it to be a waste of money on media. The label took forever to create and quite frankly white surface printables look tons better even in greyscale.

    Useless feature.

  6. if any of my drives actually had it, i'd probably make use of it, however, mine dont........as far as it taking forever to make a label, thats no problem for me...i'd just let it start and walk away from it for a while and come back later.........much easier, imo, than other options out there....thats just my opinion at least....for now though, i will stick with sharpie's...

  7. No idea: I don't have it
Well, I chose that, but I do have an idea. I think it's a gimmick.

In the future, try to think your poll options through before posting them.

    Best regards.

It really is just a gimmick and also a ploy to sell higher priced blank media. DVDs have hit their max speed ratings and capacity as have CDs. So media producers and drive manfacturers came up with T@2 CDs and LS CD/DVD media in order to sell higher priced drives and in the case of LS higher priced media. It's a novelty and nothing more.

I would spend $0.00 for lightscribe and wait 20 minutes for label. That is stupid. I can use paper label for $.010 a unit and take 5 second to print.

How about the option, "USELESS so I made sure NOT to buy it"

    That's my vote.

HP sucks ass anyway for backing DVD+R back in the early days.

I'm with FulciLives - "Useless, hence I don't have it".

"Sorta useful: I use it occasionally"

I use in on DVD's for younger family members...

    _BUT_

The storage side of the disc needs a better formulation as I purchased two 15pk from the same store from the same shipment with the same MID CODE and from the first pack every disc burned with a NERO rating of 97% or higher.. the second pack only three of them were higher than 25% (failing after the 4gb mark) and one of the three were above 90%!!

9 minutes to burn the disc and 41 minutes to make a label?? Guess where my vote lies?

  18. An option for LabelFlash would be good - although the only use I've found for putting text and / or graphics on the data side of the disc is to make people go "wow, how did you do that" and "Why didn't my disc do that when I copied yours"...

I know you hate it but how do you do a labelflash? I have a new Pioneer 111L recently firmware flashed so now what? On a google search a site said theoretically you could labelflash regular media.

In order for you to have the labelflash capability you have to be using the correct version of Nero Burn.

I used it once at work and wasn't impressed. I can't see paying more for media or limiting your media options, just to use it.

  23. As much as I'd like to have it, I don't like paying more for media and waiting that long for it to print. I'd just rather use a CD label marker at this point. Plus I don't like being limited in my choice of media.

  24. 1.- Too expensive
    2.- TOO slow
    3.- Useless

I've had better results with a sharpie!

And I think FulciLives has the better option, he has my vote

I'll go with the FulciLives option. It's a little understated, but still valid.

I just had to replace my burner and actually looked at one, but decided I'd buy something cheaper and continue using my R200 to label the disks.

I do use lightscribe for my home movies. Hate paper labels. Back in my VCD burning days, I used paper labels and a CD Stomper to apply them. Disks stopped playing in my DVD player after a few months but still played on my computer. Used the computer to copy the CDs and didn't apply labels to them. The disks without the labels still play in my DVD player.

    Moral: Paper labels are EEEEVVVVIIILLLLL.

Having said that, if I'm doing a backup of a movie I already own, I don't bother with the lightscribe, I just write on the label with a sharpie.

How did I end up with a drive capable of lightscribe? I wanted a computer with firewire built in so I wouldn't have to cannibalize my old system's firewire card. The computer I bought happened to come with a lightscribe enabled drive. My wife thought it would be cool to have lightscribed disks so she bought a 10-pack of lightscribe-enabled DVDs. I've been using lightscribe for my home movies since.

I prefer the lightscribe 1.2 media as contrast is a bit better and it burns the label faster.

I just got Nero 7 essentials and it seems to have lightscribe but I don't see anything about labelflash.
