For 2 weeks my Panasonic DVDR/VCR/HDD recorder was out of commission for replacement of its DVD-RAM drive (5 months old!) as it would not burn 16x DVD's properly. During this period I recorded off-air a number of Sony DVD+RW media on the LiteOn recorder, intending to copy back to the Panasonic HDD and edit before burning DVD-R media.
One disc contained two 1-hr programs. In most cases I've been able to erase the later program but in this case erasing it trashed the disk and it would no longer show a menu. I copied all the files off it onto my desktop computer HDD using Windows Explorer, preserving the file structure (VIDEO_TS etc. folders, and in same time order as original files) but the menu file VIDEO_TS.VOB was corrupted and would not copy. I had another DVD+R with a similar length first program and copied the VIDEO_TS.VOB file from that, and found that Sonic would play the entire video off the HDD and the menu operated correctly despite being from a different disk.
Next I tried copying the complete file set to a DVD-R disk using EMC7.5 which came with the computer's new Mad Dog DVD burner. The DVD would also play using Sonic. In addition it would play on my laptop using Roxio 6 player, but not other players like Nero 6. The audio is there and is played OK on either computer.
On the Panasonic DMR-EH75VS it will play the video but not the audio. The DVD-R will not play at all on the LiteOn unit. It will also play on another Panasonic DVD player, again without audio.
So I have the program, playable on both computers,on a DVD-R, but cannot find a way to transfer the files to a DVD-R disc that is compatible with standard DVD players. The problem appears to be the AC3 2+1 audio format which needs to be converted. EMC7.5 DVD Builder can't operate on the computer as it has a video card that is not compatible with DirectX 9, so
I'm at a loss as to how I can convert the DVD files to play on any DVD player. Any help appreciated.
Regular DVD-R's recorded on the LiteOn and finalized will play on the Panasonic (and either computer.)![]()

How did you erase the second program....in the Lite-on?
Is the +RW disc finalized?
Load up the +RW in DVDDecrypter to see what
kind of info it gives you....you'll realize it is not just a decrypter
once you know the program. -
As you surmised, the second program was erased in the LiteOn. The DVD+RW was not finalized, as the LiteOn does not finalize +RW media. I wish I had known abut DVDDecrypter before this, but the DVD+RW has since been erased, as I have the video files off it and made a moderately successful copy (i.e. one that will at least play on my computers.) I think the VIDEO_TS.VOB file would not have been readable by any program as it was corrupted by the erasure. As I mentioned, this only happened to one disk (out of about 40) - normally the LiteOn will erase a program leaving the others intact. My policy now is to copy the entire disc contents before erasing anything

To be honest....I must say that I am not very impressed with your program choices to say the least...
Roxio has been good since it was for CD's only(except packet writing program...that was CRAP) and Mad Dog?...
Anyway...you'll soon find ou that there are plenty of freeware DVD-ing programs that do much better than all-in-ones like Nero and others because they do ONE thing...and they do it well.
I thought all +R media had to be finalized? Goes to show how much I know. I would still load the disc in DVDDecrypter to see what happens...can't hurt right?..
If you get the VIDEO_TS folder off of the disc with DVDDecrypter or any other program...also look up a program called FixVTS. It does wonders with discs from recorders....and it's also free.
