Hi there,
I'm planning to buy the Dazzle DVCII (in my case Dazzle DVD Master as I live in Germany) to capture to MPEG2 in realtime. As I want to capture at the best Quality that this device possibly can I, and this is 10MBits/s from what I've heared, I presume the output-file will be quite large, for a movie at least several gigabytes. As I'm not new to capturing I know about this 2gig filesize limit for AVIs, which could be solved when capturing to a stripe-system in Virtualdub, but whith this device it seems that I have to use the included capuresoftware. Now I need to know if there will be any problems with the filesize when using the DVCII. Is this filesize limit only relevant for AVI-files ? Does the included capturesoftware support something like a striping system ? I also heared of an alternative for the included capturesoftware which was made by Ttool, will this solve any possibly upcoming problems ? Thank you very much,

NickmanXXX,
There is a 4gig limit on ANY file what so ever on the FAT32 file system. If you were to change your HDD to NTFS you would have no problems with any sized file.
You do indeed have to use the Dazzle software. Thats all I know about the Dazzle as I do not own one. Hope this helps. -
What about "TWNH", I read about this capturetool and I heard it supports segment-capturing to several files. Is the tool a fake or am I just the only guy who has heard from it ?

TWNH does support striping - you can supplyparameters for the striping - I've had no problems with it, although I tend to try and avoid it if I can (I'm always worried about losing some frames during the striping transition). Doing 10 MB/sec VBR, 1 hour ends up being about 3.7 GB for me (LaserDisc captures @ 720x480, sound @ 384 kbps), so I can do 1 LaserDisc side without striping. With 2 hour S-VHS movies, I usually stop in a commercial somewhere, although I've had no problem just letting it do the whole 2 hours (normally 2 stripes).
