    Hi,

I'm thinking of maybe buying the link cable to hook up the GBA to a Gamecube (well actually my new Nintendo WII becuase it can do everything a GC can). What I want to do is to be able to play my gameboy advance games on my Nintendo WII.

Now before you state the obvious I know there is an adapter for the GAMECUBE that can play the GBA cartridges straight without the gameboy. BUT I read that the WII doesn't have the same port for this adapter that the Gamecube has. So my question is what alternative is there for the WII?

What I want to do is to be able to play my Legend of Zelda - A Link To The Past -Four Swords game on my tv and not just the dinky GBA screen. I saw they have the Four Swords disc for the Gamecube. My question is can you play A LINK TO THE PAST on this FOUR SWORDS Gamecube game? And can you copy saved game files from your GBA to the GAMECUBE memory card via the link cable?

If anybody knows anything about what I'm talking about please point me in the right direction. THanks.

You might be able to Purchase GBA Games from the Nintendo Arcade, using a credit card and the Wii's Internet Connection, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Or you can look into this product and see if it fits your needs:
    http://www.amazon.com/Intec-GameCube-Advance-Port/dp/B0001EPWSA

However, you might want to snatch up an official Nintendo Game Boy Player for the GC as Nintendo just recently stopped making it, as it has a better framerate, sound emulation, and also supports older GameBoy and Gameboy color games, unlike the device linked to above.

I just checked my GC FSA Game.
It does not have A Link To The Past on it.

I don't know of any games that have that feature.

The last time I checked they did not have any gameboy games avalable for download on the game channel for the WII. Nor do they have LINK TO THE PAST available for the SNES downloads yet - which is odd since I have already downloaded the official NES LEGEND OF ZELDA 1 off of the WII and its a perfect port.

That would seem to be my only option at the moment - the memory card one. As I said I read that the WII doesn't have the same port as the GAMECUBE for the GBA PLAYER. But the memory card works exactly the same. But one reviewer said it doesn't work with newer GBA games..... Hmm....

That's a shame. Thanks for checking for me I appreciate it. I saw they have a four game Zelda pack that had Zelda 1 and 2 from the NES and the two Zelda games for the N64 on the Gamecube. I'll probably pick that up at EBGAMES. I was hoping they'd have a GAMECUBE port of A Link To The Past but it doesn't seem like they have that out there. Strange.

Too bad that would be cool

I have done some surfing last night and found some adapters that use the GBA port to output video and audio to a tv. I don't know how well those work. Also I don't know if any are sold in a real store. I would prefer not to gamble on a semi-independent online store. I'll keep looking.

Thanks joe the dude for taking the time to answer

  4. If you mean this:

I have this disk and it contains perfect ports of
    The Legend of Zelda (1)
Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time*
The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask*.

*They tweaked the graphics of the last two games a little bit so that they are no longer blocky and over saturated.

Overall, I very much enjoyed playing those games on the GC, and I think it's a safe bet that you will too.

    --------------------------------------------------------

I've tried This Particular Device that let my use my GBA to play my GB, GBC and GBA Games on my TV.
This particular one only works with a first-generation-style GBA.

It worked with all of the GB, GBC and GBA games I tried with it.
However, it has a few minor issues.

Firstly, I couldn’t use my plastic snap on “Grips” that were very similar in shape to a Playstation Dualshock Controller.

Secondly, I had to open up my GBA and replace the under shell with the one provided with that kit.
It’s new under shell has a thin ribbon cable that I had to stick into the LCD Video Port on the motherboard of the GBA.
    It was a tricky procedure.
If you go this route, make sure you don’t force it into the port as it’s very brittle.
IIRC, there was something I had to do to the port to loosen the grip on the port before I was able to stick in the other one.
I’m sure it was in the installation instructions though, witch you should read all the way through before attempting it.
I had to mess with it a couple of times before I could get it to line up properly.

Thirdly, when you want to play games through your GBA to your TV, you snap on a second device (witch is included) to the back of the GBA (The new back plate has a connection for it) and plug it‘s phono plug into the headphone jack of the GBA.
The second device can get quite hot after a while, but not hot enough to actually burn you.
It’s shape and added bulk to the GBA was uncomfortable for me to hold on to, but your milage may vary.

If you haven't picked it up yet, the GBA Game "The Legend of Zelda - The Minish Cap" is loads of fun.

Also, if you are into Castlevania Games, I can confirm that this adapter works with all of them, making the games way easier to see and much more enjoyable, allthough any device that lets you play them on a TV would most likely yeild the same result.
    :P

Thanks joe. Unfortunately I took another look at the store and they only had the Collectors edition new and not used from what I could see. I wasn't about to spend $50 for it right now. I do still have the two n64 games on real cartridges and I still have my n64. I may still buy it if I find it used.

And I may be tempted on one of those add on kits. I have a first gen gameboy advance (ie non backlit version) that I could use as a spare. I also bought a gameboy advance sp with the backlite that I will not sacrifice.

I'll have to look for the zelda game you mentioned. Sounds good.

And regarding Castlevania I do look them but I haven't looked into it lately. Any GC verisons of it out there?
