  1. Don't know if it has to do with multiple angles or not, but with the star wars movies I am having problems. I just want the main movie and one audio track for viewing as a mpeg.
I have used dvd decrypter, dvdfab decrypter, dvd shrink and some of these with anydvd in backgound. I have done in file mode and info mode with one vob and several.
The 20th century fox logo comes up and lucasfilm, then as lucasfilm fades away it will jump straight to the scrolling. The "long time ago galaxy far away , etc" and the starwars logo is either jumped over or the appear garbled and pixelated.

Any ideas, or anyone successfully done this?

    Thanks

hmmm, DVDShrink should have done it as long as you select the right angle

I see you have tried some with Anydvd but have you tried DVDShrink without using Anydvd? I'm not 100% but sometimes having Anydvd running aswell as your program causes issues. If you have tried it without Anydvd running then I'm puzzled as to why it's not ripping correctly

  3. Yeah I just tried it with dvd shrink without anydvd. Same result.
I don't understand why it would be doing this. The rest of the movie is fine and to be honest is watchable, but to not have the opening star wars logo come onto the screen is blasphemy.
Are there other settings I should have checked?
Are there certain things like antivirus or firewalls, etc. that could interfere?

Non of the programs you mention will create mpeg files. They create DVD file in a VIDEO_TS directory. DVD Decrypter in ifo mode doesn't create a playable DVD directory.

  5. I know they will not create mpeg files, that is not what I said. I eventually turn them into mpeg files by vob2mpg, videoredo plus, or if I select one audio track and 1 video I just rename the big vob to mpeg.

  6. Has anyone been able to rip just the main movie from Revenge of the Sith or other Star Wars movie.
Seems my problem is when I rip the main movie. Playing the 1st vob set in Windvd shows what I said in first post. This is driving me nuts.
    Somebody please help me

I did all of them with Dvd Decrypter and Shrink.

I noticed a long long time back I had problems with multi-angle movies (pauses/freezes where scenes branch and etc ) and I always only want main movie with no menu.

So, I rip with Decrypter (or RipIt4Me) in FILE mode, set to select ALL.
Then I use Shrink in Re-Author mode to back up only the main movie.

This has always worked for me. Shrink seems to be smart enough to do it right.
Weird things happen if I try to use Decrypter set to select "main movie only".

    Does this help?

  8. Yeah it does. I just used ripit4me and this worked. Man that was bugging the crap out of me.
I went through the whole wizard mode and stuff with ripit4me, but next time I will do what you did and rip it first with decrypter and then run it through dvdshrink.

I don't post that much and like to figure things out myself, but I know alot of you are more experienced with this stuff than me.
    Appreciate all the help
    Thanks

It's sounds like seamless branching is causing you problems.

ezzye23, what do you mean "more experience" -- I see your join date !!!

Just a quick note, I'm using RipIt4Me mostly now (I just found this app two months ago), it seems Decrypter on its own can't handle some newer protection schemes. But RipIt4Me adds the PSL file generation that makes all the difference for Decrypter to do its work.

I'll have to try a multi-angle film with RipIt4Me and see how that goes, since Decrypter alone won't do it right with "movie only" on a multi-angle.

  12. Well obviously some of the members here, including yourself knew another technique to use to get the job done. Plus it doesn't help that I haven't ripped anything in a while. Starting to work on my 600+ dvd collection. Man that makes me tired to think about it.

By the way, I used ripit4me again and when I was starting to rip I got some weird authentication error for dvd decrypter and I had to abort. You ever experience this?

Nope, never saw that one. I/O errors and cyclic redundency from damaged disks, but no authentication errors.

There is a RipIt4Me subforum at Digital Digest that might help
    http://forum.digital-digest.com/forumdisplay.php?f=97

I also saw a link for a RipIt4Me FAQ somewhere, but can't find the link right now.
I will post back if I find that one.

Also maybe do a search for "Dvd Decrypter" + the error message.

and if your error message is "Device Authentication Failed"
    see this thread
The OP never reported back if the advice helped, though.
