It was a prototype for the tie interceptor right? (as far as "unofficial" official cannon I believe). And it had a hyperdrive too......

The one thing in that sequence I never got was Han Solo's shot at Vaders wing mates was AFTER Vader fired on Luke. So from a practical standpoint Han's shot should not have effected the outcome of Vader's shot on Luke. However I suppose the idea of the shot was to convey they happened at the same time as such they would have distracted Vader and the shots wouldn't have been a direct hit on Luke.....

Or why Darth Vader survived the Death Star's explosion. Only the Alliance knew what they were trying to do, and to reach escape distance whenever Luke dropped his bomb down the exhaust port...

Actually the hit from Han Solo knocked the wingmates into Vader and knocked him out of the trench into open space. You clearly see him on a trajectory away from the death star after the explosion.

Not really. In fact if you recall one of the lieutenants or commanders or whatever went to Tarkin and asked if he would like to evacuate

"We've analyzed their attack and there is a danger, shall we have a shuttle standing by?"

Tarkin:

"Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances"

Hard to say. But my guess is he figured they weren't their for a field trip!!!

Besides remember the reason they went after them in fighters is because:

"their evading the turbolasers, we'll have to fight them ship to ship"

Paraphrasing of course, it's been a few months since I've seen A NEW HOPE in its entirety so the quotations are a bit off....

Edit - its also funny his wingmen were like two feet shorter than he was. Did he use jockeys or something????

(sorry I know the guy who did Vader in the suit was probably really tall above average just had to make the crack)
