I've bought a new HDD media player which can play VOB but not IFO files.
When I connect the HDD media player to the TV and play the VOBs, all the subtitles are gone. I suppose this is because the information is in the IFO files but not the VOBs.
Is there anyway to put the subtitles on the VOB files?

    Thanks!

The subtitles are there, you just have to switch them on. If the media player doesn't support them then your only other choice is to re-encode the video with the subtitles embedded in it.

Perhaps if you told us which media player you bought, another owner might have suggestions for you.

    Hi,

    It's a KL-GS03A (http://contents.fifthunit.com/html/products.5th/sku.1007.html)

It is function rich, but have lots of problem, like when it play some of the VoB, the audio is gone!! Strangely, the audio was still there in the Digest page where you preview all the VoB thumbnail, but when you actually play a particular VOB, the audio is gone.

    You happen to guess why??

Can you also give me more instruction on "re-encode the video with subtitles embedded"?

    Thanks![/img]

VOBs aren't meant top be played. They are just part of a Video DVD that's lost its friends (the IFOs). Together with the IFO they make something playable up. On their own, they are not much more than source material for conversion to other video formats.
