Ok I followed the FitCD tutorial mentioned HERE for the purpose of resizing the AR of the anime I want to convert so the subtitles won't be cut off on the TV.
The converter I use is ConvertXtoDVD but when I use the script it will slow the conversion down to a crawl and then crash. It will work fine if the anime episode I'm converting isn't longer than 30 minutes.
The slowdown starts immediately and never levels off. The conversion speed just keeps dropping until it hits 0 and freezes.
I checked at the VSO web site and it says convertX supports AVS files so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Here is a copy of the script.
    Code:
    # -= AviSynth v2.5.7.0 script by FitCD v1.2.8 =-
    AVISource("C:\Documents and Settings\yoko\My Documents\Videos\SR1st\School_Rumble_01.avi")
    BilinearResize(656,448,0,0,640,480)
    AddBorders(32,16,32,16)
    #Trim(0,34541).FadeOut(150)
I've tried using different combinations in the FitCD settings to change the script around to see if that had any effect but no luck.

    Can somebody please help me?

First things first - does the script open correctly in virtualdub ? Vdub is the best place to test avs scripts.
    Read my blog here.

Since you're already doing all the rescaling in Avisynth, you can use the AVS file with any number of other encoders.

I use similar scripts in HCEnc.
At "best" quality it takes me about 2x the running time to make MPEG video from AVI.
Doesn't do the audio though; you can use Besweet for that.

I've opened it in VdubMod with no problems. And with convertX it opens too but conversion speed steadily drops to zero.
I've tried converting just one 30 minute episode and it worked, the output was just how it should be. The conversion speed still dropped but since it was a short episode, convertX was able to finish the conversion but the speed hit 0

I've tried TMPGEnc Studio 1.0 but I can never get the quiality of the output file to be as good as what convertX does and I've tried CCE but that is little too advanced for me I think.
Thank you, I will give your suggestions a try.

    Good.
If you can handle TMPGenc, you should have no problem with HCEnc.
Just look over all the checkboxes.
You can choose the quality by file size or bitrate. I always use "Best" quality.
It has pulldown if you need that; also choose AR 4:3 or 16:9 as appropriate -- prob 4:3 for you.
