  1. I was given a dvd by a client that I can't play. My client needs it to play on a home DVD player.
I can't even play it. It is video supplied by a local police dept.
It is a DVD-R containing 33 files with the extension .ddf, 3.89GB total.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think you need to contact the police department and ask them what program to use to open the DVD. If that extension is correct, it seems to relate to a lot of different programs, but none of them video that I can find. The most logical one would be a database file.
DDF Btrieve or Xtrieve Data Definition File, which contains metadata describing a Btrieve or Xtrieve file
I've seen similarly named files in a USGS DEM file that is used for displaying map elevation data, and that's a possibility. Or you could copy one of the files to your hard drive and rename it '.avi' on the off chance that VLC Media Player can understand it.

Or maybe someone here has a better idea about the program used and how to convert it.

Fileext.com lists quite a few programs that use the .ddf extension for some of there files. The closest to video would be ACDSee, but it doesn't contain any video data.

It could also be US geological survey data.

Regardless, I can't find anything that looks like video. Hopefully someone else has seen this before.
