the idx/sub subtitles will disappear in AC3 embeded divx after about 5 mins of playing in my Philips dvp5140k. Please help.
Anyway, Pioneer 393s and LG dk172 both using mediatek chipset and support idx/sub as well, will they facing the same problem as I mentioned above?

Are you sure the sub file is complete?
Sound type shoudn't affect subtitle use, but stranger things have happened I suppose.Google is your Friend -
the idx/subs definitely complete. I tried at PC, all works properly.
Almost all the idx/sub subtitles for 2 CDs version Of Avi have this problem, some disappear after 5 mins, some after 20 mins etc.
Some can be solved by:
Switching subtitles (srt) when the one you played initially (idx/sub) disappear, then switch it back, the subtitle will get back as usual.
Some totally disappear and never re-appear although using methods as above. -
I had the same problem with disappearing subtitles when I burned IDX+SUB files to Ritek G04 DVD-R disks.
When I burn IDX+SUB files on Taiyo Yuden media code YUDEN000T02 DVD+R disks there are no issues with disappearing subtitles.
I thought the type of dye or the quality of blank disks made a difference.
