All I want to do is take clips from my non protected dvd's. I've tried vob edit then tried cutterman, but this whole take it apart and rejoin them seem tedious. I've also tried Dycrypter then put the files in Mpeg flask which converts to AVI's but I'm losing some clarity. It's almost like if it wasn't quite full screen it would look better.

    Questions:

    1. Is there any way to improve the resolution after putting it into dycrypter.

    2. Is there a simpler way or one program you can buy that will do it all?

    3. Is there a way to have the new movie you have made show up on tv inside a frame to improve clarity?

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

Since DVD media is cheap now, it's better to cut your clips in original quality and to compile a new DVD. TDA (TMPGEncDVDAuthor) is very easy to use and allows to create simple menus.

Yeah i downloaded that, but wasn't sure how to cut clips from it. I couldn't find a guide here any idea where a good guide is? Or do you have to buy it then download a manual.

There are some guides at www.doom9.org, but it is simple enough to use internal wizard (buttons on the top). SOURCE button is for importing stuff - one of two types:

1.DVD compliant MPEG2 files (file source)
2.DVD source (DVD folder either on DVD or on HDD)

In both cases the most simple way of importing is dragging the source onto SOURCE window (its central part). In case of DVD you have to drag VIDEO_TS.IFO file (there's just one on a DVD). Then you select audio track, confirm importing chapter points and go to 'cut-edit' window where you can set the imported range for the current clip, then repeat the described for another one etc.
For material from different DVDs (different encoding parameters) you usually have to create separate tracks ('new track' button).
