I have some very fine grain ("mosquito noise") in a video transferred from a DV camera. I want to compress it using XviD and I have heard that a bit of denoising beforehand can help to increase the compressibility of the file.
So, what filter should I use?
Does MSU Denoiser fit this job? ("careful" or "normal" setting)?
AutoGK uses "RemoveGrain" (before it was "Undot"), but they are AviSynth filters, and I use only VirtualDub.
Or maybe I should simply let XviD remove the noise by compressing it?
PS. Below are some examples of the noise I am speaking about. In the still picture it looks quite serious, but in the movie it is not really that visible (since it changes from frame to frame).
