    Hi,
I have a Power Mac G5 and a Macbook Pro. I downloaded Mac The Ripper to rip some DVD's I have (store bought, not homemade). The first one I ripped to try all this out is a DVD from England (PAL). I was able to rip it fine, but trying to burn it has been a huge pain. For the longest time I was trying to figure out DVD2One until I finally realized it DOESN'T burn, which then led me to wonder what the hell it does. So I read hear that you can use toast to compress and burn, but only Toast7, I have 6. I also saw Popcorn compresses and burns and I have that. So I finally open that and bring the Video TS folder in and it says "An error has occurred recompressing the video." I am so annoyed it's unbelievable. What do I do now? Why is there a problem? Is it because it is PAL? I thought once you ripped it, that doesn't matter. Someone please help because this is driving me crazy! Thanks so much.

First off, Ripping and burning IS pretty easy IMO(unless the disc you're trying has some new&tough protection on it, or a part of the disc itself is too screwed up to be properly read by the drive).

Second: DVD2One is a resizing program, to size dvd-9 down to DVD-5. It does not handle burning. I like it alot for the final resize but for prior editing, i use other programs like dvdshrink or dvdremakepro. Most members don't prefer it, as it costs money compared to programs with more features like dvdshrink.

Wish i could help more, but you're on a mac(an O.S type i've never used) and then talk of PAL video....

    Good luck.

Just as an extra side question, once the dvd is ripped and a Video TS folder is created, how can I create a Quicktime or MPEG of the movie if I don't want to burn it but use it for editing. Thanks again!

If you have the most current version of DVD2OneX , it does burn as well as compress. Also what version of MTR are you using, there are some DVD's that require you to use the new beta of MTR
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.
