I just ripped my very first DVD using Mac the ripper software. It created 3 folders: AUDIO_TS, JACKET_P, VIDEO_TS. Here is my question: How do I play the movie? I don't want to copy to a new DVD, but run it on my MAC. I've tried to run one of the files in the JACKET_P folder with an .MP2 extension. Quicktime gives me an error msg and so does the real player I have installed. I'm using Quicktime version 7.1.3

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

You should be able to play the VIDEO_TS folder, which is where the DVD video is. I would try the Mac version of VLC Media Player for that.

Under 'File', select 'Open Directory' and choose the VIDEO_TS folder. Or you may just be able to click on the folder and see if 'Play with VLC media player' is available as a choice. It should give you all the menu choices and play just like the original DVD.

And you might want to ask Mac specific questions in our Mac forum to get more responses. Moving you.

    And welcome to our forums.

    Also more natively:
    Launch DVD Player.
    Select under the File menu
    "Open DVD Media".

Navigate to the ripped output of MTR
( the video TS folder) and select it,
    click ok.

Push the Play button on the DVD Player control bar.

Now that I am backing up my dvds using mac the ripper to toast 7 or popcorn i have ran into troubles with bad sector or some files might be corrupt after ripping? How do I open them and remove before I send to Toast or Popcorn to back up. Most of my dvd's have ripped and burned fine? Just a few new ones I am getting errors?

I suggest donating and getting MTR 3.0 r13e and buying DVD2oneX 2.0.6. You will need both to do the newer DVDs.

If you do DL's, you will just need MTR 3.0 r13e.
