  1. I'm new to video editing and lingo. I have a 3 minute WMV file (4.5KB) that I would like to edit it down to about 1 minute. Is there an easy way to go about this? Currenly I have no editing software. The end result I'm looking for is a relatively small file that I can put on my website and/or e-mail without it taking too long, yet retaining decent quality.

This is my own movie, not a commercial product, so it is not protected in any way that I know of.

PS: I also have the same data as a DVD but do not have a drive on my PC that can read it.

If you were running Windows XP I'd say use Windows Movie Maker. Your profile says you have Windows 2000, so try the latest virtualdub or virtualdubmpeg2

  3. Took a look at Virtualdub, it appears to be primarily for AVI files, not WMV.

  4. VirtualDubMod can read WMV files. Use the directshow option.

  6. Thanks to all who took the time to give me a hand.

I tried ASFBIN and I was able to do just what I needed. You can check out the results on my web page, first page near the bottom.

    Virtualdub-Mpeg2 has limited wmv support.
