Are these factory dvd's or backups of your factory dvd's?
If they are factory dvd's and they are freezing then your player may be questionable, if your backups are freezing then maybe you are using crappy media to backup with (or your player is questionable). -
these are movies that I burn and only some freeze not all so the dvds are ok and its video dvds
-
can still be media, Cheap media is variable in quality.
Try taking the ones that freeze and play them in other players.
They are not labeled are they as that can cause problems too.
Good Media would for example, Verbatim, or Made in Japan.
Poor would be HP, Memorex, Made In Taiwan
Really poor would be Made in China or Made in India and the fakes that are sometimes found for really low prices. -

CMC Mag are 3rd Class media !
I keep those away at least 1000 feet from the house
I only use 1st Class media:
Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell/Sony Made In Japan
and I personally burn above 4x and I have yet to make 1 coaster.
