    i use to use Pinnacle System's Dazzle to convert analog format (hi8, 8mm, and vhs-c media) to digital quality for editing video footage on my PC. as for mac's... what do people use to convert analog to digital quality media?

  2. You need an analog-to-DV converter box (Dazzle etc, or a camcorder with analog-in -- preferably with passthrough (or maybe a compatible D8 camcorder if you have analog Hi8 tapes)) to digitize the analog source.

    Then you need an app that can import DV that comes via FW to the Mac. Such apps include iMovie, Final Cut *, BTV Pro etc.

    If you don't need to edit, something as simple as Migila's TVMicro will convert analog directly to MPEG-2 which you may then drop into Toast (or ffmpegX) to create a DVD.
