Does anyone know which version of the Lord of the rings cam work? I have seen many in morpheus and downloaded 2 but none worked, and most of them dont work either as some guys said.
If anyone knows, please tell me the file name so I can search for it. Thx

try http://www.ebay.co.uk for a £7 copy of the Lord Of The Ringz
video with full colour sleeve.

Look for the Centropy MPEGs. They are very high quality.

Btw folks, I've just obtained a copy of the rarest film in Britain, which is the Thorn EMI original of the 1978 Lord Of The Rings animated film by Ralph Bakshi. If anyone wants to make me a serious offer before I flog it on Ebay or at a film-fair then e-mail me. Copies of this have reached up to £268 in Britain on auction... Here is a pic for anyone interested

Why is it so rare over there? I just picked up the Region 1 DVD here in the 'States for $12.99.

bilbo I doubt its too rare, theres thousands of copies that just hit DVD in australia, maybe if you had it before Fellowship Of The Ring came out you could of gotten some money.

I understand that, pinoy2201. I am curious as to why it would be rare in Britain when it isn't in the US. Is it a copyright issue? distributor issue? censorship issue?

Its extremely rare because its the first edition precertified original. This was a copy made prior to the Video Recordings Act in Britain. It is also the full untrunacated version not like the Warner Bros offering which had only 2/3 of the same. Copies of this were in huge demand, and it constantly became the most requested rare film via video deletion companies in the U.K. Other titles that were in a similar position are "Quest For Fire" and "Zulu Dawn".
Its actual retail value now has obviously been lessened following its rerelease here and abroad on Dvd. I certainly didn't pay £200+ odd pounds for it but this version can still fetch up to and around the £100 mark. Here's is a link I dug up with a bit more info for you should you be interested:-

other counttries in the wrold does not get the videos the same time america does...like for example The Knight's Tale it was already out in america and in oher parts of the world it was only on theaters..get it

Those time delays between countries look likely to change though. With the advent of broadband globally, they'll have to in order to combat piracy. Its one of the most effectively proven ways of scuppering illegal copies. Afer all why would anyone want a crap copy on their home cinema system when they can get a pristine version at the same time for the same price
It used to take up to 2 years before U.k. cinema releases reached the video shelves. It's now ofetn within 6 months and the international gaps are being closed to.

The SMR copy on morpheus and kazza is a good cam working version of Lord of the rings the 2001 movie. I downloaded several like you did and all I got was blank versions. It is not a bad copy, a bit blurry in sections but after decoding and filtering it some what, it looks quite decent. I know it is a good version because I have watched it and my kids are wearing it out!!
Hope this helps!!

Sorry pinnoy2201, I think we're bouncing back-n-forth in our discussion between the 1978 Bakshi animated LOTR and the Jackson 2001 LOTR. The original poster asked about the 2001 version, but Bilbogod mentioned the 1978 version and the rarity of a particular version of that tape...and that is what I was curious about.
I know that every country deals with films differently than the US, that is why I ask... I find these differences fascinating.
THE DROID, I have seen a portion of the SMR version and it, IMO, is inferior to the CENTROPY version. Except for a slight audio hum on disc 1, it is nearly as good as a DVD rip.

why do people always read only half the threads. Im fully aware of this video existing. In fact you can buy it anywhere for £10... That has nothing to do with what I'm saying!!! If u can find me the Thorn Emi 1978 original in Blockbuster I'll eat my hat. But since I don't wear a hat perhaps my shorts will do.

btw- here is someone selling the same one
