    I was wondering...

Is converting DivX to DVD a bit "stupid"?
I mean for example a full cd with a DivX .avi movie (700mb)..
When converted to dvd, the 700mb .avi is converted to a 4gb .mpg... and the quality gets a little worse too!
Why cant we keep the video at 700mb and put 6 movies on a DVD?

Does a 700mb DivX HAVE to become a 4GB mpg in order to keep the quality?

If you have a Divx certified DVD player then you can leave them as Divx/Xvid, burn them as data, and get 6 to a disc. If you don't have a divx certified player then you don't have much choice.

Absolutely. You'll have to use 3-4x AVI bitrate (bitrate dictates size, so it'd equal 3-4 times the file size) when encoding to DVD mpg to maintain quality (as much as possible - every reencoding takes some away).
