  1. What do Mac owners use to burn DVD's? And is there as much free software available to them as for the Windows users? Or is software, like DVD Fab, etc. being written only for the Windows boys?

I was told you could use a standalone or buy and install one from Apple (expensive).

I'm not the Mac owner, I'm just asking for a friend.

Toast is the no. 1 CD/DVD burning app on Mac OS.
Mac OS has built-in burning ability, but UDF (DVD Video) requires 3rd party tools.

Also, if your friend wants to, he or she can run a search for CD/DVD-burning apps on macupdate.com and versiontracker.com. (Note, though, that if you access VersionTracker on a Windows system, it'll normally take you to the Windows section, the Mac section for Mac users. (It's checking the User Agent string of the browser, I believe.)) There's a handful of shareware and freeware available for the purpose. I think more people are inclined to use Toast, though.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

  5. hi if you use toast expect to have your computer tide up for hrsfor re-encoding, another solution is burn all the movies as a data with ufd, and use dragon burn it is easier and the best out there bit do not forget to have UFD file format or won't play on a divx - DVD player.

  6. Nah! If you want to burn a VIDEO_TS folder to a playable DVD disc and end up with Toast re-encoding, you have just done it the wrong way. Choose "from VIDEO_TS folder" in the VIDEO tab or burn as UDF in the DATA tab. Same result and no re-encoding. It just burns it.

A quick recap of what you will need.
MTR- Free, but for some newer DVD's you need to join the BETA team (not free)
DETOX - This is DVD2OneX- Not free but pretty much a must have for some newer DVD's.
Toast 7 - Not free , while not a "must have" like DETOX it runs a close second.
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.
