i use a sony dsc-w50 digital camera to record 8 minute video clips.
i use VX fine mode (vga 640x480 at 30fps)
i want to archive these 8 minute clips using the Xvid codec, and to keep each 8 minute clip under 100MB, and good quality.
for the audio i use mp3 at 128bitrate cbr 44100hz.
i use virtualdub for the xvid conversion.
i used the bitrate calculator, and got a bitrate of around 1300.
do you recommend xvid's settings as default?
Profile @Level: Default
Encoding type: single pass
target bitrate: 1300

I get around 1600kbits for 8 minutes.
You can also try use 2-pass encoding. -
Just for the data, audio plus video, 100MB / 8 minutes ~= 1667Kb/s.

yeah chose 1300 because 8 min. will be the shortest of my clips, and 9 min. being the max.
i'll do 2-pass, thanks all.
