    hi i have a packard bell r6422 laptop, the last few days i have noticed a prob. i power it up, after 10-15 mins it just turns off, i have looked in power magnet & checked the battery. i checked if the fans were blocked to but they were ok? has anyone else had problems like this?

    Still sounds suspiciously like overheating. You might try holding the fan blades with a end of a zip tie or other plastic (To keep the fan from overspeeding) and blow some canned air through there to see if any dust comes out. But you should also feel hot air coming out when it is running if there is a cooling problem.

    I don't know how new that laptop is, but sometimes the heat sink compound dries out and loses it's effectiveness.

    If it's not a heat issue, does it give any error, or just shut down? Does it do it quicker when doing CPU intensive tasks, like encoding or similar?

    If you are running XP, does the Task Manager show anything odd before shutdown? Can you run in 'Safe Mode' and see if you still have the same problem? That might rule out some driver problems as they may not be loaded.

    That's all I can think of at the moment.

    I'm with Red - sounds like overheating. Either that, or something is starting to fail on your power supply (which is doubtful).

    hi, its about 2 years old, i thght it might b a driver prob in the start, it does not give any errors its like if ur using a pc from the mains and someone just pulls the plug and everything just goes blank? it lasts for about 10-20 mins, i took it apart and looked at the fans and its was clear. and i kept it up so it cld breath ok. but it still does the same?
