  1. Hi Forum!

Can someone recommend a good DVD player to play DVDs to kids in the back seat of a car? My kids are 2 and 4, so they will be strapped into car seats.

I really don't want one that we have to install in the roof or in the dash. Would prefer one where the screen straps on the back of the front seat.

We did get the Black Friday Best Buy Special, the 10.2 inch Insignia IS-PDVD10, but this one seems to be junk for us, because (a) it doesn't strap well the seats, (b) the angle viewing is TERRIBLE for anyone not looking straight on, and (c) the audio is TERRIBLE without headphones. At max volume, the probably couldn't hear over the ambient noise of the car, and (d) It seems when we want to add a 2nd monitor, it won't play on the original screen. So much for adding a 2nd monitor so both kids can have there own screen.

Appreciate all suggestions. Thanks so much in advance!

    Joey

Target has a dual-screen Audiovox system that works well for my 6 and 9-year-old kids. The player is built into the first screen so you only have two units to deal with. The second screen can be a slave (showing the same as the first) or it can operate off of its own AV inputs (for a handheld game). The velcro straps work very well and the screens can be tilted a little. The whole thing packs into a small bag (additional cost).

It's only available in-store (not on Target.com for some strange reason) and costs about $140.

I haven't tried it without headphones so I don't know how powerful the speakers are.

Not sure how well it will work for your two year old. Based on my own experience and that of some friends, 4-years seems to be the youngest that deals well with headphones.
