i can't play any audio cd's in either my dvd or cd drive.
    dvd's play no prob
firmware is all updated - dvd is lite-on 812s sohw (no probs for 4 years!)
it all started with a "store bought" cd... now each time i insert an audio cd in either drive my pc simply restarts
i hope this hasn't already been answered... i was getting frustrated sifting thru this excellent site's forums
Thanx in advance for any help
    cheers

  2. Why not just disable autorun on the drive.
Life is like a pothole, you just have to learn to get around it.

    hi,
Dvdguy4 suggestion may very well work.... if it does.. could mean that there a conflict between the player whenit start to load and programs running in the back ground.

You might want to take a look at your msconfig.exe>startup and disable all those needless startup programs from starting up at windows boot. also doing a defrag help in many ways..

there another possiblity... but there not enough symptons t determine and if there is malware issue. I assume yo have done your virus and antipsyware scans. ... oh by any chance are these sony's bmg labeled cd?
